Panama's Hidden Hot Spot

Panama is quickly becoming a travel hotspot. Resort and condo communities cater to people looking for comfortable getaways, there are more off-the-beaten-path options for backpackers, gorgeous spots for scuba diving and snorkelling and is a haven for retirees. But there's one place that's often overlooked in the many travel articles and reviews you may have read. Interestingly, while Venao is just 45 minutes from Pedasi, a retiree’s dreamland, and just two hours from the Panamerican highway, it is not terribly well known… at least for now.

Playa Venao itself is a 3.5 mile stretch of beautiful beach that offers incredible surf, soft sand, amazing views and some incredible restaurants. Just a few years ago, the area was devoid of any fancy accommodations or store fronts. There were no turquoise swimming pools or luxury rental home options. Today however, things have changed. A range of hotels, B&Bs and hostels have erupted across the beach along with some incredible restaurants and walkable shopping areas. With the recent establishment of The Dekel Group, a real estate and property development firm in the area, things are about to make an even larger leap towards major change.

This once sleepy fishing village is becoming the centre for expat development and surf town potential. With a large community of what can only be described as hippies and surfers, this area will need to maintain its laid back atmosphere and refreshingly natural vibes. However, with housing being developed and hotels moving in, there is no doubt that all of the gaps in products and services in the area are about to be filled.

If you are in search of a chill place to rest your head for a while, Venao is a definite must. If you are looking for a place to relocate and begin finding opportunities for surf, sun and business, check out this beach. And if your deepest desire is to own a hilltop overlooking a tropical paradise, you may have just found your piece of heaven.
