Fresh Find: EzPz Mats
As a parent, how many useless kids plastic plates and bowls are cluttering up your cupboard? We have too many in my house! Some have suction cups on the bottom that don't work, some aren't dishwasher safe, some aren't microwave safe and one is well-meaning and biodegradable but chips every time it's chucked over the side of the high chair—and that happens a lot!
So, I was thrilled when a friend from Hip Mommies sent us a couple of EzPz mats to try...and so were my kids! Made of BPA-, PVC- and Phthalate-free silicone, the mats are dishwasher, microwave and even oven safe and won't grow bacteria (so you can leave them sitting on the counter under a pile of dishes for a few days before remembering to wash them...not that we'd recommend that). And although they're made of silicone, they're very sturdy. You can fill them with food, then stack them to deliver meals to multiple little monkey at once. Oh! AND they suction to smooth, flat surfaces, like your dining room table or counter. No suction cups, the silicone just sticks and can't be lifted and flung across the room, spraying oatmeal all over your walls!
The EzPz collection consists of the Happy Mat, Happy Bowl and Mini Mat (plus a few specialty items, like crayon-sized happy mats for snack time). The original Happy Mat holds 4oz in each eye and 10oz in the mouth and is a reminder to serve kids a carbohydrate (or whole grain), protein and fruit and/or veggies.
The Happy Bowl holds 8oz and fits most high chair trays. I serve cereal in it to my three-year-old and it catches all the milk drips nicely!
The Mini Mat fits most high chair trays, too (unlike the original Happy Mat, which is too big for most trays) and holds 2oz in each eye and 4oz in the mouth.
The Happy Bowl is $25, Mini Mat is $28 and the Happy Mat is $30.
